Can a family member be paid to provide personal care through Trinity?
Yes. A relative, friend, or neighbor may be able to become an approved caregiver for an eligible Home Help member after meeting program requirements including being at least 18 years old, completing enrollment, undergoing criminal history screening, and being approved in CHAMPS. However, a spouse cannot be paid to care for a spouse, and a parent cannot be paid to care for their minor child.
What determines which tasks Trinity will provide?
Trinity provides only the tasks authorized in the member's Michigan Home Help service plan. MDHHS determines eligibility and authorized services after reviewing medical and functional needs through an in-home comprehensive assessment. Authorization is not based only on diagnosis; two people with the same diagnosis may have very different care needs.
Does Trinity accept Medicare or only Medicaid?
Trinity serves eligible Michigan Medicaid Home Help members and members of MI Coordinated Health HIDE D-SNP (for people with both Medicare and Medicaid). Medicare alone does not meet the program's Medicaid eligibility requirement. Trinity also welcomes private-pay personal care clients.
