Frequently Asked Questions

Can a family member become a paid caregiver through Trinity?

Yes. A family member, friend, or neighbor may be able to become an approved caregiver after completing applicable enrollment, screening, and agency requirements through CHAMPS (Community Health Automated Medicaid Processing System). However, a spouse cannot be paid to care for a spouse, and a parent cannot be paid to care for a minor child. Employment and Medicaid approval are not guaranteed.

How does Trinity determine what services are covered?

Trinity does not determine eligibility or authorize hours. An MDHHS adult services worker completes an in-home comprehensive assessment to determine which activities the person can perform independently and which require physical assistance. Trinity then provides services according to the member's current authorization and does not bill Medicaid for noncovered activities.

What if someone has both Medicare and Medicaid?

If a person has both Medicare and Medicaid, they may qualify for MI Coordinated Health (MICH), Michigan's HIDE D-SNP program. Trinity Home Assistance can work with families to identify whether care may be arranged through traditional Michigan Medicaid Home Help, MI Coordinated Health HIDE D-SNP authorization, or private pay.
