Its Menlo Park office serves San Mateo County, including Menlo Park, Daly City, San Mateo, Redwood City, South San Francisco, San Bruno, Pacifica, Foster City, Burlingame, San Carlos, East Palo Alto, Belmont, Millbrae, North Fair Oaks, Half Moon Bay and Hillsborough. Services include companion and personal care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, respite care (including as a partner in Medicare's GUIDE program for dementia), hospice support, hospital-to-home care, care management, veterans care and transportation. Familiar Surroundings accepts long-term care insurance and helps veterans with VA benefits.

I had an excellent experience with FSHC and highly recommend their services. I had the opportunity to meet with the company prior to being admitted into surgery at Stanford Health and was not quite sure when I would need a home care person to start based on the outcome of my extensive procedures. They were extremely flexible and actually visited me in the hospital to see how I was. I felt, from that point on, that I was in great hands. Once I moved into a local Airbnb by myself for the next few months the home care person that was assigned to me, Martha, became an important part of my recovery process. She helped me with getting to all of my PT and medical appointments, plus helped me with shopping, home care needs, etc. She is the best! My situation was unique from an assistance standpoint because I live in the Lake Tahoe area and could not return home due to the winter conditions being risky with my condition. Plus I sourced excellent therapists in the area and wanted to build a good foundation in terms of care. Overall I was very happy with the scheduling and care teams at Familiar Surroundings, not to mention the management team, and would use them again without question. Five stars!
