It is a licensed agency with employee caregivers and a registered nurse on staff for supervision, and it is not a franchise. Its San Jose office serves Santa Clara County. Services include companion and personal care, Alzheimer's and dementia care, respite care (including as a partner in Medicare's GUIDE program for dementia), hospice support, hospital-to-home care, care management, veterans care and transportation. Familiar Surroundings accepts long-term care insurance and helps veterans with VA benefits.

When my husband’s family needed help and advice on how to care for his grandma’s day to day needs I reached to the office of familiar surroundings. They listed out with a lot of details all the things they could provide and what insurance they accepted. They were very straight forward and answered all my questions. The office staff was kind and understanding and I am lucky to have found such a great place to help our family! I highly recommend reaching out if you need anything for your loved ones! They make it easy and simple for the family members to support their loves ones!

The managers and staff were amazing when it came to communicating with me and my family. Both of my parents have Dementia. I just signed up to have Familiar Surroundings take them on walks three times a week. The paperwork was easy. The staff was great during the process. After the first walk, I saw my mother smile for the first time in months. The staff knows how to talk to and deal with people with Dementia. I can't be more thrilled. Thank you for what you do.
